A community guide for homeschoolers in Eugene-Springfield and greater Lane County

Orsig

History of Orsig:

Orsig began long ago, in the 80s, I believe, as a contact list for homeschoolers to communicate about legislative issues while Oregon's first homeschooling laws were being developed.

Christine Webb, the founder, maintained the group because she wished to provide a resource for homeschoolers. Orsig has continued in that tradition. It is a group for homeschoolers, not a group about homeschooling. Off-topic threads are frequent and intense. Orsig is a place you love, or you don't.

Orsig has also been a warm and loving community for many of its members. Those who stick, stick for a long time.

Group Description for Orsig:

"This list exists to allow Oregon homeschoolers to discuss homeschooling and topics of interest to homeschoolers. This can and will encompass a wide variety of topics, some of which will interest individual members more than others. This list may also serve as a vehicle for you to organize or participate in homeschooling clubs, playgroups, tours, lectures, and other special events. ORSig is a high volume list but the diligent use of accurate subject lines allows for confident use of the delete key. Although many subscribers are from the Portland metro area, the list is for ALL Oregon homeschoolers. "
